On this day, October 18, 25 years ago, the NBA banned the original Air Jordan One due to its non-compliance with the league's uniformity policy. Little did they know this move would do so much to inspire a culture. The fact that Michael Jordan was fined $5,000 every time he laced up to play a game in these made them that much more desirable which made it worth Nike's while to cut the $5,000 check night in and night out.
